Bengal bags first prize in power sector reforms

West Bengal was awarded the first prize in ''Excellence in Power Sector Reform'', by the Union power ministry at the 3rd India Energy Summit in New Delhi today.

The top award was received by Chairman and Managing Director of West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd Malay Kumar De from Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde at the function, organsied by the Indian Chamber of Commerce in New Delhi, WBSETCL's additional General Manager Biswarup Mukherjee said in a statement here.

West Bengal was picked up for its outstanding achievement in reform in the power sector.

The WBSEDCL was adjudged winner for undertaking power sector reform initiative in the country.

This year the corporation also received the gold shield award by President Pratibha Devi Patil on February 17 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
