Overseas film stakeholders keep doors open for Indian filmmakers
Chennai | Thursday, Nov 19 2009 IST

Leading film industry stakeholders from the UK, France, Germany and Canada today said they keep their doors open for Indian film makers.

Ms Julianne Schulze, Senior Partner, peacefulfish from Germany said "if the co-production was genuine, based on the right story and other creative elements, rather than purely to access funds, the world is ready to talk and co-produce world class films in partnership with India." Speaking at an interactive session on 'Exploring International Partnerships' at FICCI's Media and Entertainment Business Conclave here today, she said the German Federal Film Fund disbursed funds for co-productions. The Fund offered a 16 per cent cash rebate. The maximum amount of funding was capped at four million Euros and if the production involved expenses of the order of one million Euros, 25 per cent had to be spent on location in Germany.

This percentage would be down as the total spend goes up. "An Indian film maker has to have a German co-producer on board to facilitate the process of application for funding," she pointed out.
