Indian mens team finishes 2nd, Rahul Banerjee third in AAC

The Indian mens recurve team scored 3,953 points to rank second overall in the FITA round qualification of the 16th Asian Archery Championship (AAC) at Bali (Indonesia) today.

The team comprised of Rahul Banerjee, the best placed among Indians at third (326), Jayanta Talukdar standing at fifth(1321) position and 11th placed(1306) Mangal Singh Champia.

The womens compound side, consisting of Jhano Hansdah, Namita Yadav and Manjudha Soy, totaled 4,034 points to stand third overall, by far the best show in this championship.

In the womens compound section, Jhano was seventh overall with 1361. Gagandeep surprised with her improved display to come 11th with 1358 points. Namita with 1337 was 14th and Manjudha was 15th with 1336.

The results: Ranking round, mens recurve: 3. Rahul Banerjee (1326), 5. Jayanta Talukdar (1321), 11. Mangal Singh Champia (1306) and 24. Atanu Das (1274). Team: 2. India (Banerjee, Talukdar and Champia) 3953.

Womens compound: 7. Jhano Hansdah (1361), 11. Gagandeep Kaur (1358), 14. Namita Yadav (1337) and 15. Manjudha Soy (1336). Team: 3. India (Jhano, Namita and Manjudha) 4034.
