Mahesh Bhatt writes to PM
Mumbai | Wednesday, Nov 18 2009 IST

Noted film-maker Mahesh Bhatt today said he had written a letter to Prime minister Manmohan Singh, seeking help and protection after exposure of his son Rahul's alleged friendship with the Lashkar-e-Toiba operative David Headley.

''My family and myself are victims of terrorism and mob terror as my latest film 'Tum Mile' is being targeted with theatres being attacked in Gujarat and as a consequence the screening has been cancelled there,'' Bhatt wrote in the letter, despatched on November 16.

''My son Rahul, who was introduced to Headley by Vilas Warak, his colleague at the posh Moksh Gymnasium here, faces threat to his life,'' the anguished father wrote in the letter.

Bhatt said ''We have stood firmly with the country against terror and encouraged my son and Vilas to go to police. But the police made the name of my son public and he is facing life threat now.'' ''I am awaiting reply to my letter'', he added.

Meanwhile, Fitness Instructor Vilas has been asked to stay from work for sometime. ''I am completely shattered and my life is a mess now and feel that my marriage, due next month, may be called off,'' Vilas said.

Vilas had introduced Headley to Rahul, his co-instructor at the Gymnasium. He said Headley was a fitness freak and wanted to get his body in shape. ''I was not aware of his background at all and introduced him to Rahul as he was one of the best Instructors,'' he added.
