Railway FC snatch a point from East Bengal in Sahara League
Kolkata | Wednesday, Nov 18 2009 IST

Handicapped by the absence of star players, East Bengal today settled for a 2-2 draw with Railway FC at a Sahara Calcutta Football League premier division match at the Yuba Bharati Krirangan here.

As East Bengal were nearly in jubilation due to a late goal from Mitrovich, all hell broke in the dugout when opposition striker Kaltu Hembrom dodged past two defenders to equalise the scoring 2-2 into 93rd minute signalling a tough time ahead for newly-recruited coach Philippe De Ridder.

Having lost about half-a-dozen regular players, who are now in the national camp, East Bengal began well with the available bench strength and went ahead from a goal of Bekhokhei in the 30th minute.

As Bhumram Tudu's shot deflected from RFC keeper Rakesh Prosad, Bekhokhei boooted home from the rebound, giving EB the lead 15 minutes before the break.

RCF restored parity 15 minutes into the second half when they got a penalty after one of EB's defenders brought down an opponent.

Samarat Roychodhury did what was expected defeating partitme goalie Abijit.

With the match was heading for a draw, Mitrovich haaded home a free kick from Mehtab Hossain 2-1 in the 85th minute of play. But a solo effort from Kaltu Hembrom from the midfield made all the difference in the equation three minutes into the injury time and RFC shared one point each with East Bengal. With this draw East Bengal have four points from earlier win over Eastern Railway and RCF collected four points from as many plays.
