Dutch national Heum remanded to 15 days judicial custody

A Magistrate Court today remanded to 15 judicial custody, the Dutch national Will Heum, who was arrested by the city police on charges of posting child pornography on internet.

The Dutchman was produced before the court by the Cyber crime police after being questioned in custody.

The police had completed the investigation a day before Heum's police custody expires tomorrow, and produced him before the court. He was later lodged in Puzhal Central Prison.

Meanwhile, Chennai City Police Commissioner T Rajendran said the chargesheet in the case would be filed within ten days.

''We have recovered various items like computer and other accessories used to paste child pornographic photos on the internet.

We have also seized relevent documents'', he said and added the chargesheet would be filed in ten days time. The bail blea filed by Will Heum would come up for hearing tomorrow. The 56 year-old Heum, who was charged under the new IT Act for digital child pornography, a crime punishable with a maximum of seven years' imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10 lakh, pleaded not guilty. Heum, who was running an orphanage in the tourist town of Mahabalipuram was arrested on charges of child molestation there in 2002. After jumping bail, he moved to Chennai city.
