Uma attack on Raj Thackeray: says he is media creation
Etawah | Wednesday, Nov 18 2009 IST

Bharatiya Jan Shakti Party (BJS) president and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharti today launched a vitriolic attack on MNS president Raj Thackeray and blamed the media for giving him undue popularity. The firebrand leader said Mr Thackeray should be ignored and not given much attention by the media.

Charging the electronic and the print media with giving popularity to Raj Thackeray, the BJS supremo said media had given unjustified popularity to Raj Thackeray and his uncle and Shiv Sena president Bal Thackeray.

She said ''all Maharashtrians are not against North Indians...the anti-North Indians harangue was, owing to few MNS activists.'' ''I don't want to spoil my tongue by taking the name of Raj Thackeray,'' Ms Bharti told reporters here.

''Even, item girl Rakhi Sawant is better than the Maharashtara Navnirman Sena chief for giving pellucid remarks,'' she asserted in her inimitable style.

Ms Bharti appreciated Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi's move of visiting the house of dalits, saying ''infact, every politician should do the same.'' ''There is nothing wrong in visiting the houses of dalits, but the thing is that Rahul has started considering self as 'Lord Ram' and the dalits as 'Shabri' (the character of Ramayana),'' she added.

Rahul grabbed fame after going to the hut of one Kalavati, but it was yet to be seen if the poor lady would ever get the opportunity to dine with the Congress leader and at the 7, Race Course, the BJS chief said.

She applauded the 'rectification' move of former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh after parting ways with Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav.

''I am elated with Kalyan Singh returing to the Hindu ideology,'' she quipped.

''The Almighty will definitely forgive him, if he is regretting truly and ensuring his contribution into the Ram Temple construction,'' Ms Bharti said.

She said ''I have always respected him and never fought any election against him as he was elder and a fatherly figure to me.''
