Convict escapes from jail

A thirty-six-year-old life convict escaped from Bellary Central Jail today.

According to reports reaching Police Headquarters here, John, who was serving life imprisonment, was allowed to meet his mother and relatives who had called on him.

However, after conversation he went inside the jail premises briefly and again went to speak with his mother and escaped.

John, a native of Hubli, was also wanted by Goa Police in connection with a murder case.

The Prison Officer has filed a complaint with Gandhinagar Police Station, Bellary.
