India One TSR jawan killed, another injured in encounter
A Tripura State Rifles (TSR) jawan was killed and another seriously injured in an encounter with suspected National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) militants this morning in Dhalai district. Police here said the incident occurred at around 0830 hrs at Dhumacherra police station area of Longtharai valley subdivision when TSR jawans moved out of their camps for launching search operation. A group of suspected NLFT(BM) militants suddenly started firing on the TSR jawans. The jawans immediately retaliated but two of them were injuried. TSR rifleman Samaresh Debbarma, seriously wounded in the encounter, died on way to Tripura Government Medical College. There was no immediate report if any of militants was either killed or injured in the encounter. Security forces cordoned off the area and launched combing operation to nab the insurgents, the sources stated, adding additional deployment has been made in the area. -- (UNI) -- 18CA9.xml
