Jayawardene becomes 10th highest scorer in Tests

Mahela Jayawardene today overtook two Pakistanis - Inzaman-ul-Haq and Javed Miandad - to become the 10th highest run getter in world Test cricket.

He passed the two great Pakistanis when he reached 8833 runs on the third day of the opening Test against India, overtaking Inzamam who has 8830 and Javed Miandad who has 8832 runs.

The former Sri Lankan captain reached the landmark in his 108th Test at an average of 53.85 in 178 innings. He also has 26 hundreds and 36 fifties to his name.

Jayawerdene is now behind Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Ricky Ponting, Allan Border, Rahul Dravid, Steve Waugh, Jacques Kallis, Sunil Gavaskar, and Graham Gooch.
