HC grants bail to Vedic Village resort chief
Kolkata | Tuesday, Nov 17 2009 IST

A two-judge bench of Calcutta High Court today granted bail to Rajkishore Modi, chief of Vedic Village resort, after 78 days of his arrest.

The bench, comprising justices D P Sengupta and S K Chatterjee, granted bail to Modi after his 78 days' stay in both police and judicial custody.

Modi was arrested from the resort in Rajarhat New Township near airport in the city on August 28.

He was arrested for violence near the resort in which a teen-aged boy was killed after agitated supporters clashed over a football match.

Angry over the death of the boy, hundreds of local people attacked the resort and set it on fire on August 26.
