Ford Foundation to provide 40 IFP during 2010

The Ford Foundation International Fellowships Programme (IFP) today announced to provide 40 fellowships for the year 2010 in a bid to build a new generation of social justice leaders in the country.

Ford Foundation International Fellowships Programme Deputy Director Neera L Handa told newspersons here that the candidates for the fellowships would be selected from among the applicants working in Bihar,Chhatisgarh, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhanda.

She said the IFP would assist selected Fellows in University admission process and would pay for travel, tuition fees, living costs and logistical arrangements related to their study programmes.

Any candidates having at least three years full-time work experience relevant to their proposed area of study, experience in leadership and community service related activities, besides securing at least 55 per cent marks from a recognised university in their Bachelor's or a Master degree could apply for the fellow ship.

Ms Handa said till October 2009 IFP had selected 280 fellows for Masters and PhD degrees. Of these 200 Fellows have completed their studies and 75 per cent have returned to the country to create value for their regions and communities.
