All Left Front partners must help strengthen coalition: Biman Bose
Kolkata |Tuesday, 2009 8:05:06 PM IST

West Bengal's ruling Left Front (LF) Tuesday said all partners of the coalition must play an "active" role to strengthen the front's unity and it was not the sole responsibility of major partner Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M).

"It is not the sole responsibility of the CPI-M to maintain the unity of the Left Front. All the partners will have to be responsible for it and they must play an active role to strengthen the ruling combination," LF chairman Biman Bose told a press conference here.

He said: "No Front leader will be able to speak about the policy decisions of the LF in public. If anyone has anything on his mind, he can share it within the Left Front but not outside. If he or she is a state cabinet member, he can share his views with the chief minister also.

"The Front partners can only speak about their own party decisions without involving the Left Front."

Bose said the CPI-M always shouldered more responsibility within the Front since it has the highest number of seats.

He said the LF would carry out week-long political programmes at district levels to protest the Maoist violence in the state.

"I also spoke with comrade Prakash Karat and told him to organise an LF rally in the national capital some time after the winter," the LF chairman said.
