International welding exhibition in Kolkata from December 11
Kolkata | Monday, Nov 16 2009 IST

The 5th International Welding Technology Exhibition- ''Weld India'' will be held here from December 11 to 13 to showcase the latest technological innovations in welding industry.

Concurrently, the city will also host the national welding seminar from December 10 to 13 to provide a forum for attending professionals from industry, academia and research institutions to deliberate on the ways for advancement of the industry.

This was informed to mediapersons here today by Indian Institute of Welding Vice President P K Das, convenor of the events.

Mr Das said the exhibition and the seminar would be organised in association with The International Institute of Welding, The American Welding Society, The Welding Technology Institute of Australia and The Indian Society of Non Destructive Testing.

He said substantial investments by the Centre had resulted in a demand of around seven million tons of welding materials on a projected consumption of 100 million tons of steel.

'' This is likely to increase three folds by 2020. The exhibition thus provides an opportunity to be aware of the technological development in welding industry,'' Mr Das observed.
