Kochi | Monday, Nov 16 2009 IST

Kerala High Court today observed that incidents of students fighting against each other and indulging in violent and criminal actvities has become common in the state for the last several years.

Mr Justice K C Shankaran made these observations while considering the bail applications of different student activists in connection with the stundent clashes in Maharaja's College here. Justice K T Shankaran also observed that the common man cannot be blamed for thinking that political parties in the state were responsible for creating such a situation in the educational institutions. The students were led to think that capture of power in educational institutions was their prime objective and got involved in violence to achieve that goal, he said. The parents of the students strive hard for better prospects of their children, but their expectations turn futile when their wards indulge in such activities, he observed. Though parents wish to a have a peaceful atmosphere in the campuses. Atmopshere becomes horrendous due to the activities of some people, he also observed.
