Sheila no different from Raj Thackeray: NPP
New Delhi | Monday, Nov 16 2009 IST

The Delhi unit of the National Panther's Party (NPP) today took to streets to protest the current price rise, and alleged that ''Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit was no different from MNS Chief Raj Thackeray.'' Party General Secretary Ajit Singh told UNI, ''There is no difference between Raj Thackeray and Sheila Dikshit. Raj is targetting people from Bihar directly, while our Chief Minister believes that people from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh have affected Delhi's infrastructure adversely. She is targetting them with the price hike and wants the poor to leave Delhi.'' He added, ''We are in support of organising the Commonwealth Games since it will be an event of national pride. But the Congress is erecting the infrastructure of the Games at the cost of the livelihood of Delhiites.'' He also said the NPP will organise a 'Delhi Bandh' and block traffic on arterial roads if the government does not pay heed to their demands.

Party General Secretary Rajeev Khosla said, ''Private players have bribed the Delhi government to hike the DTC fare. We want the government to take back the hike immediately.'' The workers stressed that people could no longer tolerate the ''injustice of the government'' and managing a household had become impossible for Delhiites.

In a half-naked protest here, the party workers demanded that the government take back its DTC and Metro fare hike and ensure that essential items were cheap and affordable.

They added that the Congress was voted to power in Delhi for the third term but were only concerned about the rich.

The NPP also demanded that the DTC Student Pass should be issued free of cost since students were the most affected by the DTC and Metro fare hike.

Party Delhi Pradesh President BS Sajan, Vice-President Rakesh Sharma, youth President Sarbar Khan and youth General Secretary Surjeet Singh Guleria also participated in the protest.
