Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jyotiraditya M Scindia will inaugurate the 11th International Seminar on Cement and Building Materials here on November 17.

The four-day seminar will be organised by the National Council for Cement and Building Materials (NCB), a premier scientific and industrial research organisation under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, an official release said. With emphasis on cement, allied building materials and construction industries both at national and international level and consolidating the joint efforts of all the related organisations, the seminar will deliberate on technological innovations and emerging trends in the related core activities. Over 600 delegates, including about 70 from overseas countries, are expected to participate in the seminar.

The issues to be discussed during the event would be waste fuel utilisation and combustion systems and the modern trends in project engineering and system design and productivity enhancement and process optimisation. It will also deliberate on performance durability and sustainability of concrete systems, total quality management, energy conservation and environmental improvement and environmental management and mitigation of global warming. The thrust, however, will be on cost-effective cement and construction technologies, energy efficiency and environmental excellence related issues. A special publication on 'Global Economic Scenario--Challenges and outlook for Indian Cement and Construction Industries' will be released to mark the occasion.

A technical exhibition on the themes of the seminar will also be organised to highlight the related products and services.
