Irked over Rahul's campaign in Ferozabad, SP may withdraw support
Lucknow | Friday, Nov 13 2009 IST

On the backdrop of the Ferozabad Lok Sabha by-election debacle and growing strained relationship with the Congress, Samajwadi Party is expected to withdraw its unconditional support from the Manmohan Singh government very soon.

The SP is said to have decided in principle to withdraw its support to the United Progressive Alliance(UPA) government following growing differences with the Congress.

SP has also identified the Congress as the 'first political enemy' for its declining popularity in the Hindi heartland and was now preparing itself to survive by giving a clearcut message to his rank and file.

''After Rahul Gandhi campaigning against Dimple Yadav, daughter-in-law of Mulayam Singh Yadav and SP state president Akhilesh yadav, also the husband of Dimple, calling Rahul his direct opponent, a very little options are left to maintain a cordial relationship between the two parties'', a senior leader of SP, on condition of anonymity, told UNI here today .

It is also expected that the party leadership could announce the decision of withdrawal of support on November 16 when the SP would launch an agitation against the centre and UP government over various issues including price hike of essentials, low price of produce to the farmers and fake FIRs lodged by the UP government against party National General Secretory Amar Singh.
