India UPCC chief to write to PM on cane pricing issue
Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) president Rita Bahuguna Joshi today said sugarcane farmers must get the adequate price of their produce and promised to write to Prime Minister in the regard. Talking to mediapersons here today, Ms Joshi said sugarcane farmers were not getting adequate price of cane. ''Cane farmers are agitating against it and would write to the Prime Minister Manmohan singh, United Progressive Alliance (UPA) president Sonia Gandhi and Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar in this regard,'' said Mrs Joshi. She claimed that farmers were also facing dearth of seeds and manure and state government was responsible for black marketing of manure. Ms Joshi claimed that Congress would win on three Assembly and a parliamentary seat of Firozabad in by-elections held yesterday as their was a clear wave in the favour of her party.
