India Chhattisgarh Cong trashes policy
The Chhattisgarh Congress Committee today rejected the Raman Singh regime's new industrial policy alleging that it was not in the state's interest. Referring to the policy for 2009-14, approved by the Cabinet yesterday, Congress state President Dhanendra Sahu said, ''It has now been proved that the government has become a toy in the hands of major industrialists. The policy will pave way for development of only a handful of industrialists and destroy the industrial scenario.'' Describing as inadequate the compensation fixed for sale of land for setting up factories, Mr Sahu demanded a significant hike besides allocation of concession land to unemployed youth for setting up factories. He also demanded scrapping of a decision to provide 75 acres for development of infrastructure by an industry, and said that no farmland should be either acquired or used for setting up factories.
