Chhattisgarh Cong trashes policy
Raipur | Saturday, Nov 7 2009 IST

The Chhattisgarh Congress Committee today rejected the Raman Singh regime's new industrial policy alleging that it was not in the state's interest.

Referring to the policy for 2009-14, approved by the Cabinet yesterday, Congress state President Dhanendra Sahu said, ''It has now been proved that the government has become a toy in the hands of major industrialists. The policy will pave way for development of only a handful of industrialists and destroy the industrial scenario.'' Describing as inadequate the compensation fixed for sale of land for setting up factories, Mr Sahu demanded a significant hike besides allocation of concession land to unemployed youth for setting up factories.

He also demanded scrapping of a decision to provide 75 acres for development of infrastructure by an industry, and said that no farmland should be either acquired or used for setting up factories.
