Kushinagar | Saturday, Nov 7 2009 IST

Ruling Bahujan Samaj Party MLA Bhura Ram was arrested on charges of booth capturing during by-election to Padrauna assembly seat in Uttar Pradesh today.

Bhura Ram, the MLA from Rasda assembly constituency in Ballia district, was arrested following a complaint of booth capturing against him at a center near Gulelala village, police said.

Police arrested him and brought him to Padrauna kotwali.

A case under section 188 of the IPC and 128 of the People's Representation Act was lodged against the MLA.

He was, however, later released on bail after the conclusion of polling.
