Theft of Rs 6 lakh from 5 shops in Bhagirath Palace

Five pharmaceutical shops in the famous Bhagirath Palace of north district here were robbed of about Rs 6 lakh in cash last night, police said today. ''When one of the shop-owners, reached the spot, he found locks and shutters of all the five shops in a building with address 1520 broken and dismantled,'' a senior police official told UNI.

He informed that the building was located in the main market area and was adjacent to the area Post office. ''Rs 5.5 lakh were stolen from one shop, belonging to Bhupinder, Rs 8000 were stolen from the shop of Rohit Bhandari and Rs 35,000 were missing from Raj Kumar's shop,'' the official said. He added that a similar amount was stolen from the other two shops also. Investigation was on and hunt was in progress to nab the criminal.
