India 7 students injured as school van overturns; condition stable
Seven students of Delhi Public School (DPS) were injured when their van overturned after being hit by a mini-truck in Kashmere Gate area here this morning. Altogether, 12 students of DPS, Mathura Road, all belonging to second and third standards, were travelling in the van and out of them, seven were injured, a senior police official told UNI. The injured students were identified as Neha, Tavi, Nishthi, Kabir, all 10-yr-old and Mahima, Ayush and Dharmik, all nine-year-old, the official said and added that their condition was stable and all have been discharged from the hospital. ''The driver of the van, Paramjeet Singh, is still admitted in the Trauma Centre,'' he said. Detailing about the incident, the official said, ''When the van was taking a U-turn near ISBT, a Tata 407 coming from the opposite direction collided head-on at about 0720 hrs. As a result, the van overturned.'' He informed that the mini-truck was running at a high speed after breaking the traffic signal. ''Its driver is absconding,'' he added.
