BJP Karnataka crisis: No announcement likely today
New Delhi | Saturday, Nov 7 2009 IST

The much-awaited announcement to bring truce between the rebel and loyalist factions of Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa is unlikely to take place today as the leaders possibly can't make it to the Capital in time. BJP sources said the rebel leader and Tourism Minister G Janardhana Reddy was still in Karnataka, while the Chief Minister who went on a pilgrimage to Vaishnodevi in Jammu and Kashmir is expected to come back late in the evening. While the rebels have so far remained unrelenting from their demand of change of leadership, both at Hyderabad and Bangalore, Mr Yeddyurappa said he had to make unwilling sacrifices by dropping Rural Development Minister Shobha Karandlaje and transfer V P Baligar from his office as a price for peace with the Reddy brothers. The Chief Minister broke down in front of the cameras saying he had accepted these demands at the instructions of the party elders and in the interest of people. Mr Yeddyurappa, who has been asked by the party high command to stay back in Delhi for one more day yesterday, said he was willing to take everyone along by adopting an inclusive approach.

The administration needs to function every minute at a time when people were reeling under the after effects of one of the worst floods in north Karnataka, he said in an interview with a Kannada news channel as tears rolled down his eyes. (Eds: Pick up suitably from earlier series)
