No change in rebels stand on leadership change:Janardhana

The political crisis in the BJP government in Karnataka looked far from over, despite the hectic moves being made by the party's central leadership as the dissident leader and Tourism Minister G Janardhana Reddy today maintained that there was no change in their stand of seeking the ouster of Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa.

Speaking to newspersons here, on his return from New Delhi, after holding week-long hectic parleys, Mr Janardhana, who is spearheading the rebellion within the State BJP, expressed confidence that the central leadership would take the "correct" decision in the interests of the party and its government in the state.

Stating that the trouble in the state BJP started, when the Revenue Minister G Karunakara Reddy and Health Minister Sriramulu came out with a plan to construct 54,000 houses for the flood- displaced in Bellary, Gadag and Raichur Districts.

Without mentioning the name of Mr Yeddyurappa, the Minister said, ''Unable to stomach the growing popularity, the head of the family (BJP Government) conspired against us (the three ministers from Bellary) and created hurdles in our efforts to help the poor.'' Mr Janardhana, who had closeted with his elder brother and Revenue Minister G Karunakara Reddy for over 30 minutes along with Health Minister Sriramulu, had explained the outcome of his three-day talk held with Central leadership.

Expressing confidence that Central leadership would come out with a solution, which would help ''save the party and the Government'', he said, he had explained everything to the party leadership to save the present Government and also the need to bring it back to power again and again. It was upto the central leadership to take a suitable stand, he added.

Mr Janardhana denied that the central leadership had turned their principal demand for the removal of Mr Yeddyurappa. ''Please wait for another two days for the results,'' he added.

Meanwhile Assembly Speaker Jagadish Shettar, who had also returned to State Capital after meeting the Central leadership, has denied the media reports suggesting that he would resign from the post. ''I will continue as the Speaker of the Assembly and no plans to quit it'' he added.
