Yeddyurappa breaks down before cameras

Facing a bitter campaign by dissidents, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa today broke down in front of the cameras at a time when people were reeling under the after effects of one of the worst flood crisis and the administration was working every minute. During an interview with a Kannada news channel, the Chief Minister said he did not expect to be forgiven for his inability to protect those who believed in him totally, be it his Principal Secretary V P Baligar or Rural Development Minister Shobha Karandlaje who had to be sacrificed conceding to the demands of the Reddy brothers. ''I had to make this sacrifice at the instance of the party elders and interest of the people. I have agreed to this, although I was not ready to accept this. I hope God will forgive me,'' Mr Yeddyurappa broke down with tears rolling down his eyes.

After the BJP leadership evolved the peace formula, Mr Yeddyurappa who was scheduled to leave for Bangalore last night stayed back in the Capital to enable the party to make its announcement in the presence of warring factions this evening.
