India KSCPRC looks out for parents of child lent for begging
The shocking incident of a woman hiring to look after a seven-month-old baby and lenting it to the beggars, took a curious turn today with the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KSCPRC) looking out to meet the parents of the victim. The incident came to light early this week when the parents of the child, both officials in multinational companies, found that the Nanny hired by them to look after the infant during day time used to lend it to beggars after sedating the child for just Rs 100 a day. While the couple refused to speak to the media, they also did not lodge a police complaint. Meanwhile, sources in KSCPRC said they were looking to identify the couple and initiate strict action against the maid. As beggary was a punishable offence, stringent action could be initiated against the culprit, the sources said. It was alleged that while the parents left home for office, the nanny would feed the child, administer it with sedatives and dress it up with rags. The beggars would take it away and return it before the parents returned. The incident came to light when the mother returned early from office and found the maid watching TV and the child missing. On quizzing, the woman confessed to have been sending the baby with beggers for the past three months. -- (UNI) -- 06MS52.xml
