CM urges inclusion of "Pranahita Chevella" as National project
Hyderabad | Friday, Nov 6 2009 IST

Requesting the Union Ministry of Water Resources to expedite approval by the Union Cabinet for nclusion of Polavaram project in the list of national Projects, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah today urged the Ministry to consider the inclusion of ''Dr B R Ambedkar Pranahit Chevella Sujala Sravanthi'' project also in the list. In a letter to Union Minister for Water Resources Pawan Kumar Bansal, a copy of which was released to the press here, he said the ''Pranahit Chevella Sujala Sravanthi'' project should also be declared a national project. This would immensely help the development of the drought-prone and backward Telangana region of the state, thereby contributing to improvement in the standard of living of the people, Reacting to the Union Minister's letter saying that only one in ftrastate project would be funded from a state in the national project list to ensure adequate flow of funds and that new intrastate projects would be taken up only after completion of an ongoing project, Mr Rosaiah said the then Minister of Water Resources Saifuddin Soz, in a letter to Major and Medium Irrigation Minister, on August 28, 2007, had said that all the major and medium irrigation projects included in the Prime Minister's package would be eligible for AIBP support.
