NE monsoon vigorous over south coastal AP

Northeast monsoon has been vigorous over south coastal Andhra Pradesh while rain occurred at a few places over Rayalaseema. Weather, however, mainly remained dry over Telangana, Met department said today.

Kandukur recorded a heavy rainfall of ten cm, followed by Vinjamur 9 and Udayagiri 8 cm.

Rainfall recorded in other centres in cm are: Sullurpet and Tada 6 each, Gudur and Venkatagiri Town 5 each, Kavali, Rapur 4 each, Podili and Satyavedu 3 each, Bapatla, Ongole, Tirupati, Atmakur and Seetharamapuram, Ichapuram, Kalyandurg, Srikalahasti and Thambalapalle 2 each.

The minimum temperatures changed little over the State. They were above normal over Rayalaseema, at a few places over Telangana and at one or two places over coastal Andhra Pradesh. The lowest minimum temperature of 13 degrees Celsius was recorded at Adilabad.

Moderate to rather heavy rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places in the districts of Nellore, Prakasam, Guntur and Krishna of coastal Andhra Pradesh. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places over Rayalaseema while isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Telangana and in the remaining districts of coastal Andhra Pradesh, it said.
