Jailed Rai accused of code violation

Former Jharkhand Minister Harinarayan Rai, lodged in a jail, was drawn into another controversy with authorities today filing an FIR against him and six others in connection with violation of model code of conduct.

Rai, accompanied by six others, yesterday went to file his nomination at the Sub-Divisional Office amid tight security as he was specificially shifted to Dumka jail from Birsa Munda Central jail in the state capital two days ago for this purpose.

Official sources said Rai and his supporters disobeyed prohibitory orders and also misbehaved with the security personnel while filing the nomination, adding the FIR was today filed at the town police station.

''His suporters shouted slogans and came inside the office premises in huge number violating model code of conduct,'' official sources said.

More than six hundred unnamed people were also made accused in the case.

Rai is already facing vigilance inquiry in a disproportionate income case.
