India Businessman donates Rs 50 lakh, relief materials
A Chennai-based businessman has donated Rs ten lakh worth relief materials for the flood victims in Andhra Pradesh, besides a cheque for Rs 50 lakh for an eye hospital being built by the Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanams (TTD). On humanitarian grounds, Mr Ashok Rathi of the Chennai-based Rathi and Rathi Hosiery Traders Private Limited donated saris, dhotis, vests, briefs, and childrens clothing worth Rs ten lakh for the flood victims in Kurnool. A company press release said, in addition to his personal contribution he also collected more than 5,000 sets of clothing through the Rajasthan Cosmo Club and sent them to the victims in the flood affected areas. An ardent devotee of Lord Balaji, Mr Rathi also donated Rs 50 lakh for an eye hospital set up by the TTD in association with the Sankara Nethralaya for purchasing of modern equipments. Mr Rathi met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah in Hyderabad and personally handed over the relief materials and the cheque towards his contribution for the eye hospital. -- (UNI) -- 05MS20.xml
