India Rain claims 10 lives in TN, heavy showers likely
More rains were forecast for the next 24 hours, from the trough of Low Pressure over Comerin area in the South West Bay that extended upto Tamil Nadu and South Andhra coast, even as ten people were killed in rain-related incidents in the State. Reports received at the police headquarters here today said ten people were killed in various rain-related incidents during the last 24 hours. However, the district-wise break-up was being estimated, the reports said. Meanwhile, Chennai City and its suburbs experienced steady rain since yesterday afternoon. There was heavy rain since last night and it abated around 0700 hrs this morning. Several roads were water-logged due to persistent rains. Though the sky remained grey, sun came out around noon. Chennai City received 15 cm of rains and the suburban Meenambakkam observatory recorded 13 cms of rain during the last 24 hours ending at 0830 hrs today, the highest so far this season, after the North East Monsoon broke out last week. -- (UNI) -- 05MS8.xml
