India Two BJP ministers oppose leadership change in K'taka
Two senior ministers in Karnataka have opposed any demand, seeking leadership change in the state and said they would vociferously voice their opinion in favour of B S Yeddyurappa's continuance as the Chief Minister. Talking to newspersons here today, Public Works Department(PWD) Minister Govinda C M Udasi and Cooperation Minister Lakshman Savadi said change of leadership in the state is not required now, as the government is functioning well under the able leadership of Mr Yeddyurappa. Both the ministers were vehemently criticising the dissidents for raking up the leadership issue and said when the people of the state were affected due to unprecedented floods, it was unwarranted on their part to raise the leadership issue. It is a replica of Neero King fiddling when Rome was under fire, they added. They said the government was initiating measures to provide assistance to the displaced and expressed confidence that the problem in the state BJP would be resolved soon. Mr Udasi said the BJP had projected Mr Yeddyurappa as the Chief Ministerial candidate before the last May Assembly elections and the party had won the poll convincingly. Under the circumstances, the question of seeking change of leadership is ruled out and the issue is irrelevant, they added. BJP legislators. including Doddappa Gouda Patil and Sunil Valliapur, were also present on the occasion. -- (UNI) -- 05MS3.xml
