Wipro buys Yardley personal care business for $45.5 mln

Leading software services firm Wipro Ltd today said it has signed a pact with the UK-based Lornamead Group to acquire the Yardley personal care business in Asia, West Asia, Australia and certain African markets for 45.5 million dollars.

The deal is expected to be completed by the middle of next month, a company statement said. The transaction is another achievement for Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting following its acquisition of Unza in 2007, it added.

Lornamead Group which had acquired Yardley from Procter & Gamble in 2005, however, retains the business in Europe and America.
