Yeddyurappa confident of crisis resolution in Karnataka BJP
New Delhi | Wednesday, Nov 4 2009 IST

Undeterred by the dissident activities clouding the future of the first ever BJP Government in Karnataka, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today expressed confidence that the party leadership would find a solution and he would complete a full term in office. Talking to newspersons on his arrival in the national capital, the Chief Minister told the party leadership had stated that there was no change in the state leadership. There was cooperation from everybody including the 'Reddy brothers' who are leading the revolt demanding the change of leadership claiming to have a support of 60-odd MLAs among the 118 BJP Legislature Party. Mr Yeddyurappa would be meeting the BJP national leadership - Leader of Opposition L K Advani, BJP president Rajnath Singh and leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley - who has been doing the firefighting on behalf of the party, both in Bangalore and New Delhi.

The rebellion became public when the Reddy brothers raised the banner of revolt by declaring the project to construct 50,000 houses for the flood affected people in Bellary district. The CM on his part retaliated by transferring the administration and police heads of the district who are believed to be close to the Bellary brothers - Tourism Minister G Janardhana Redddy, Revenue Minister K Karunakara Reddy - and their associate and state Health Minister Sriramulu.

One of the first tasks of the Chief Minister on his arrival was to visit senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu. He was accompanied by state BJP President K Sadananda Gowda, BJP sources said. Mr Naidu is a Rajya Sabha MP from Karnataka but hails from neighbouring Andhra Pradesh. He said his primary intention of the visit was to call on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh regarding the foundation stone laying for the relocation of low lying villages to a higher locale in the flood affected districts in north Karnataka region. ''I have been travelling in the flood-affected areas for the last four days and had come straight from Dharwad after supervising the relief operations.
