Petroleum Minister Murli Deora today said the oil and gas production has registered a sharp increase in the country during the year with crude oil production in Barmer oil field and natural gas production commissioning in KG-D6 gas fields. Addressing the Economic Editors' Conference here, Mr Deora said during the financial year 2009-10, crude oil production is expected to increase by 11 per cent reaching 36.70 million tonnes as against production stagnating annually at 32.33 million tonnes for many years. Describing this year as a landmark one, Mr Deora said natural gas production during the current year is projected to reach 50.21 billion cubic metres. As far as crude oil production is concerned, an increase of about 2.3 million tonnes is expected, which will come from Rajasthan (2.4 million tonnes) and KG Deep Water(0.8 million tonnes).
