6 robbers held in Delhi

The Delhi Police have arrested six miscreants, who allegedly used to rob people on the pretext of giving them a lift, police said today. Additional Commissioner of Police (South-East) Virender Singh told mediapersons that on October 26, one Mahender Kumar Pandey, a resident of GK-I, was offered a lift by occupants of a car near Pumposh Enclave Bus Stand and was robbed by them. According to Mr Singh, on November 3, pickets were erected at the entry and exit points for routine checking of vehicles. A car bearing the registration number DL3CAQ-4320 was intercepted at Alakananda Picket and the occupants of the car were arrested. The five of the arrested are --Chandan, Ajit, Neeraj, Suraj and Neeraj -- while the name of sixth person was yet to be known.

The six accused are in the age group between 18 and 21 years and were committing snatching and robberies frequently. Police said 30 mobile phones, six fake licence plates, two master cards, two kirpans, a pistol, two live cartridges and a stolen car were recovered from their possesion. All the six accused were booked under sections 394 and 397 of the IPC.

Further investigations were on.
