Pace duo put Bengal in Driver's seat on day one

Lethal bowling by pacers N Das and Sayan Mondal placed Bengal in commanding position against Hyderabad on the first day of the four-day Col C K Nayudu(under 22) tournament here today.

Winning the toss, visitors opted to bat but found no answer to incisive bowling atttack launched by the Mondal and Das and were dismissed at a paltry total 142. The duo ended the day with a haul of four and three wickets respectively. The Hyderabadi batsmen were all at sea, opener Akshat Reddy who scored 60 off 118 deliveries was the only exception. He was caught at deep by Porel dismissed off S S Mondal.

Ashish Reddy tried to steady the ship, but he too failed after scoring 20 runs from 75, he became the maiden victim of Amit Banerjee. While Benjamin Thomas, caught at slip by Shreevats Goswami, was the first prey, Sandeep Rajan, Habib Ahmed were his other casualties. The hosts also had a decent day with bat, and scored 80 without losing any wicket. Both openers Rohan Banerjee and Sufian were looking in great touch and remained unbeaten at an individual score of 30 and 21 runs respectively.
