India RIL says not aware of Justice Raveendran's daughter's link with AZB
Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) today said it was neither aware nor was informed by AZB partners that Justice V R Raveendran's daughter was associated with the Bangalore office of AZB, a law firm. In a statement released here this evening after Justice Raveendran, one of the three Supreme Court Judges in Bench in the gas dispute between Ambani brothers, withdrew on the grounds of conflict of interest. RIL said, ''This fact came as a surprise to our senior counsel and us''. AZB Partners, who have been advising us from time to time, should have informed us of this fact and RIL regrets that six working days of the court were lost, the statement added. Justice Raveendran's daughter is employed in the Bangalore-based law firm in which Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), a Mukesh Ambani company, is a partner. Justice B Sudarshan Reddy will replace Justice Raveendran and the new bench comprising Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan and Justices B Sudarshan Reddy and P Sathasivam will start hearing the case afresh from tomorrow. -- (UNI) -- 04BY33.xml
