Assamese man keeps Fire Services on toes
Chennai | Wednesday, Nov 4 2009 IST

A middle-aged man from Assam kept the Fire Services personnel on their toes for nearly three hours as he climbed atop a tree and threatened to jump to death.

The man, identified as Sijnis from Assam, was found perched on a tree near a MRTS Railway Station and threatened to jump when locals alerted the Fire Services.

When the Fire Service Personnel tried to rescue him, he started jumping over to branches. After fighting for nearly three hours, the personnel, with the help of local youths, brought him down.

Initial questioning revealed that the Assamese was mentally- challenged. Police took him for further questioning.
