Bangalore | Wednesday, Nov 4 2009 IST

Global auto parts major SKF today inaugurated its Global Testing Centre in the city which will be a hub of testing activities ensuring greater focus on customer requirements, cost, quality and operational efficiency. The new facility was inaugurated by the SKF Group president and CEO Tom Johnstone who said SKF was putting in place in India a knowledge infrastructure that allows the company to provide state of the art technology solutions from SKF. ''This testing centre will significantly reduce the lead time for our customers and ensure that we are able to respond speedily to their requirements for new products. Our objective is to ensure that we provide complete solutions to our customers by combining and integrating different products, systems and services. ''The Centre fully supports the SKF strategy of providing knowledge engineering solutions to our customers,'' he said.

SKF India Managing Director Rakesh Makhija said the main objective will be to conduct testing at close proximity to its customers for design, process and supplier validation. The centre would cater to the two wheeler, automotive and sealing solutions businesses of SKF, and would subsequently be expanded to encompass the Industrial segment as well. The centre would also cater to testing value added solutions that integrate SKFs five technology platforms, Mr Makhija said.
