BJP demands joint action against Koda
Mumbai | Wednesday, Nov 4 2009 IST

BJP today demanded joint action by financial watchdogs such as Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) against former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda and others allegedly involved in a huge financial scam.

BJP leader and former MP Kirit Somaiya led a delegation to the Director of Company Affairs here today, to discuss the issue. He said he will go to Delhi tomorrow and raise the issue with the finance ministry. He said BJP national president Rajnath Singh would implore Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to take quick action against the culprits in this purported Rs 2,000 crore money laundering scheme.

Speaking to mediapersons at the BJP office near Mantralaya, Mr Somaiya said that there are laid down procedures to follow whenever a financial scam is unearthed. ''All the financial watchdog agencies involved should be intimated within 24 hrs, but in case of Koda only Income Tax department is conducting investigation and no other agency was intimated,'' he said.

''This case involves many ruling party bigwigs, hence it is being handled on a low key,'' he alleged.
