ICICI Bank suspends four employees in ATM theft
Hyderabad | Wednesday, Nov 4 2009 IST

The ICICI Bank here today suspended four employees, who were allegedly involved in a theft of Rs 14 lakh from its ATM at Peddapuram town in East Godavari district.

According to a release here, though the theft took place on Sunday afternoon, the incident came to light only yesterday.

Police suspect the the involvement of bank staff as the secret CCTV cameras installed in the ATM branch were tampered by the miscreants.

However, two bank staff, who keep the required amount of cash in the ATM everyday, told the police that they had handed over the key to the concerned clerk after doing their job. But the clerk denied the same.

Could this is avoided: ľ Camera installed at right place but was overall area of ATM also covered. ľ This is a case of lack of constant CCTV monitor by authorized personnel. CCTV monitor to be on always during working hours to ensure no camera view is malfunctioning and a quick short search by time or events daily for non working hours. Have been elecronic security integrator since 1997, I ve noted once CCTV is installed users feel their job is over. Not really constant & regular monitoring with periodcal maintenance is required.
