Bangalore Winter Meeting from Nov 6

Nearly Rs 14 crore would be offered as stake money, subsidy and incentives during the 34-day Bangalore Winter racing to be held here from November six.

Briefing newspersons, Bangalore Turf Club (BTC) Chairman and Senior Steward Vivek G Ubhayakar said a little over 1000 horses would take part in races during the season, which included 375 two year-olds.

Eighty jockeys and 40 'A' licensed trainers are expected to take part in the meeting. "The stake money has seen a jump of nearly 17 per cent from 12.01 crore last season to Rs 14 crore," he said.

The classic races for the season include, Fernhill's Palace Bangalore 1000 Guineas (Nov 28), Harvins Bangalore 2000 Guineas (Dec 12), Bangalore Oaks (Jan 2) and Poonawalla Bangalore Derby (Jan 26).
