Surekha apologises for quitting without consulting Jagan
Hyderabad | Wednesday, Nov 4 2009 IST

Ms Konda Surekha, who resigned as Women Development and Child Welfare Minister to press the demand for making Congress MP from Kadapa Y S Jaganmohan Reddy as the Chief Minister, today apologised to late Chief Minister YSR's son for not consulting him before putting in her papers.

Talking to reporters after calling on Mr Reddy along with her husband and Congress MLC Konda Muralidhar, she said in fact, both Mr Reddy his mother Y S Vijalakshmi wanted to call on her at her residence to console her. She dissuaded them from coming to her residence as it would give a ''wrong impression'' that they were behind her resignation. Returning from Paviralagutta after paying homage to late Chief Minister, Ms Surekha wanted to explain her position to Reddy and seek his apology for resigning ''without consulting him before.'' Ms Surekha, most articulate among the Ministers in the 'draft Jagan-as-CM' campaign, had submitted her resignation letter directly to Governor N D Tiwari.

The Governor had accepted her resignation on October 30 as recommended by Chief Minister K Rosaiah. Mr Tiwari had reallocated the portfolio handled by her to the Chief Minister with effect from October 30.
