Manish repeats his IPL feat with dazzling ton in Ranji match
Meerut | Tuesday, Nov 3 2009 IST

Fresh from his success in IPL, young Manish Pandey scored his maiden first class century helping Karnataka reach 372 for 5 in their first innings on the first day of the Elite Group B Ranji Trophy match against Uttar Pradesh being played at Bhamashah stadium here.

The 20-year-old Manish Pandey devastated formidable attack of UP comprised of international players R P Singh and Piyush Chawla scoring a strokeful unbeaten 194 and struck a mammoth parnership of 273 runs with skipper Rahul Dravid for the fourth wicket.

After being put to bat first, Karnataka was in trouble found tottering at 27 for three. This brought the pair of Dravid and Manish togather and both found the UP attack to their liking while scoring at a brisk pace. The sloppy fielding of the hosts helped them reaching to a very comfortable position as both the players were dropped once.

The aggressive approach of Manish and watchful style of Dravid had UP bowlers off the hook and they looked hapless till Dravid was run out off a direct throw of Ravikant Shukla from the covers missing out his century by just three runs. Rudra Pratap Singh and Piyush Chawla had little impact on the marauding pair as both toyed with them. Robin Uthappa, who is on a comeback trail, had a disappointing outing as he was out leg before to R P Singh without scoring.
