India Conducive environment for Minorities vital: Renuka
Former Union Minister Renuka Chowdhary today said creation of an atmosphere where Minorities and weaker sections do not feel threatened was absolutely vital for the survival of the country. Delivering a lecture at the Maulana Azad National Urdu University, she said, ''we should create an atmosphere where Minorities and other weaker sections do not feel threatened.'' She added, ''this is absolutely vital for the survival of the country.'' Advocating women's reservation, she said culture has been used with convenient interpretation to subjugate women. Stressing on the need for multiculturalism, Ms Chowdhary said, ''India is the biggest example of unity in diversity. ''Contemporary politics has evolved from the ethos of multiculturalism only. Culture is about identity and continuity. Multiculturalism lays the foundation of integration ... Multiculturalism is the only way forward to become a civil society.
