NCP's support to Cong conveyed to Governor orally: Patil

Maharashtra NCP president R R Patil today said he and caretaker deputy chief minister Chhagan Bhujbal had informed Governor S C Jamir that the party would provide support to the Ashok Chavan-led government in the state.

''The oral statement in front of governor is as good as written,'' Mr Patil observed, while speaking to mediapersons.

He, however, said as long as the 1999 formula for sharing of ministries is not accepted by the Congress, the NCP would not take part in ministry formation.

He also made it clear that an NCP legislator would be speaker of the legislative assembly, continuing the tradition of the last ten years.
