Naidu flags off mobile health teams to treat Dengue
Hyderabad | Tuesday, Nov 3 2009 IST

Telugu Desam Party President (TDP) N Chandrababu Naidu today reiterated his party's demand to the Andhra Pradesh Government to include dengue in the Rajiv Aarogyasri Scheme for the benefit of poor patients afflicted by the dreaded disease.

Flagging of eight mobile teams comprising three doctors and two para-medics each of the NTR Memorial Trust to the worst-affected Karimnagar District, he pointed out poor patients were not in a position to meet the huge cost of treatment of the disease.

He urged the government to announce an ex-gratia of Rs five lakh to the families of patients who succumbed to Dengue.

Even as the State Government put the death toll at eight, the TDP had claimed about 200 patients had died due to Dengue. Over 800 patients were undergoing treatment in various hospitals.
