India Seven drown in K'taka
Seven people, including two children, were feared drowned in two separate incidents in Karnataka today. Police said four youths from a private company in Bangalore, were feared drowned in the river Cauvery at Muthathi picnic spot in Mandya district. Eight employees of the company had gone to the spot in the evening. Four of them went for swimming in the river, but did not return. Three bodies had so far been recovered. They were identified as Kumar, Prakash and Venkatesh. A search was on to locate the fourth victim Vikram. In another incident, three people, including two children, drowned when a coracle, in which they were sailing at Mukund Lake in Sindgi taluk, capsized. Seven others were rescued. The incident occurred when ten people were travelling in the coracle, which capsized midway to the Kali temple on the island in the middle of the lake. Nearby fishermen rescued seven people, while three others died. One body has so far been recovered. The victims hailed from Adoni in Andhra Pradesh, police added. -- (UNI) -- 02MS54.xml
